Warwick Students' Union

Igniting Change at Warwick Students’ Union.

Working together as part of activities for Freshers Week, The Egalitarian recently certified Warwick Students' Union Terrace Bar as part of our Safe Place Project training. Warwick recognised the growing need for proactive measures to ensure safety and inclusivity in social spaces and we further equipped  their venue staff with tools to combat harmful behaviours, from spiking to broader issues of harassment and victim-blaming. We built on Warwick SU’s previous experiences and training to ensure knowledge is fully up to date, victim led and reports are escalated to the appropriate external agency, at the appropriate time.

Our engagement began with a consultation to identify any specific challenges Warwick SU faced so we could tailor the session to ensure it will be relevant to the staff. It was a pleasure to work with a union that wanted to ensure their initiatives were at the forefront of fostering a safe and welcoming environment. With these insights, we designed a bespoke workshop addressing effective allyship in the night time economy and took a visit to Warwick University’s beautiful campus to certify Terrace Bar.
